Sundays With Jaden: weekly update

I'll do this every Sunday for the gazillions
of you following his story: so keep coming back and leave a comment for them.
They read this !

Also: don't forget to grab Jaden's button, post it on your blog and share this Punkin Heads story. Cause you are awesome. possum.

For those of you unaware of this tough little man, you will first need to read his story here. ( click those words) I must preface your journey to reading that story with two reminders;

GRAB A KLEENEX.
I know this family personally.

So this Halloween I sit thinking about Mr. Jaden, our little man , the CHAMP. Here' s a pic to help you.. and also a BIG FAT REMINDER that we live in the city of champs should you forget. ahem... cough cough.. Jaden is in the PERFECT place for tough boys who WIN.

This was taken at CHOP ( Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh) What AWESOME things they do for the families enduring such heartwrenching times.

*And isn't J cute in his puppy jammies? I want some.

Arf! Arf!

I'm waiting to hear if he was feeling well enough to participate in what he SHOULD BE PARTICIPATING IN.. Halloween. Because he's a little kiddo and age 2 is the PERFECT YEAR to finally GET THE CONCEPT of : HEY.. THEY ARE GIVING ME CANNEEEEE when I go up to their door!

So I"m praying today for his health, for their strength and most of all; that he got to go out and get sum canneee. You do the same please because you're all awesome like that.

It's raining here right now in the burgh.. so I'm not certain of Halloween's success all together but I can't wait to see what he's going to be.

MY guess is a Super-Hero.
Which one, not sure.

Let's take bets and see who wins.

I guess Spiderman.

So Jaden finished up round FOUR out of the SIX rounds of chemo that he must endure to attempt to kill off this terrible cancer. He is still fighting for his life friends- so continue to pray for him.

Reports are in that he came through this last round of chemo with flying colors and that he still loves him some bread. Some butter bread specifically.

Cuz he's A CHAMP!

No problems to speak of other than yet another trip to the ER to fix his central line on Wednesday night. He must jump rope with that stuff!

I think so much about how they must try to make his life, their lives, as normal as possible and I think about all the things I'd do to if put in their position. I'd be giving him anything he wanted.

Jaden " I has an elephant Aunti Supah?"

Aunti Supah, " You wanna elephant buddy?? Ok. SUre."

* calling up Barnum and Bailey.

Supah, " Hey Barnum, what up. Hey listen. Send me Pickles for the day k? And send some peanuts too.. I'm fresh out. It's for Jaden. K thanks. "

Jaden- tires of playing with Pickles the Elephant while dodging poopy piles " I has a unicorn Aunti Supah?"

Aunti Supah, "Oh? A unicorn buddy?? That might be harder J. ( insert think real hard face) OK OK .. I'm on it."

* calling up Glenda Good Witch

Aunti Supah, " Glenda GOod..it's supah...Yah I'm good. Thanks.. no.. you too! Hey listen.. I need some help. Wave that little want and poof me an effin unicorn PRONTO.. it's for Jaden, kthanks.. gotta run.. the elephant is poopin in my living room!"

BUt they're probably WAYY better parents than I am. Keeping boundaries and rules in tact. I'd probably give into anything he wanted- cuz I"m a sucker like that. AND HE'S SO CUTE. He'd be playing with knives and driving the mini-van by now if he were mine.

GUess no visits to Aunti Supah are in the works huh?

So anyways. Think of little man as he takes a break from all the chemo this week. He'll begin his fifth treatment soon enough. I'm sure he'll be watched this week to make sure his counts don't drop too low and that he isn't in need of any transfusions. He also got sick last time AFTER chemo ended... remember the ranch and sausage episode? LOL!

As always. Do something in honor of Jaden today and pray for this family. Also leave a comment guessing what Jaden was for Halloween.

You're all the best.

* UPDATE FROM GRAMMIE 11/1/09

Dear d,

Again I say to you, you have an amazing way with words and very creative thought process to come up with wonderful stories!
THANK YOU!!!!

Yesterday we went over to help the boys carve the "jack-o-lanterns." Pap and Mom ended up doing all of the work, since Joey was watching TV and Jaden just wanted to sit on Mom's lap. They did amazing jobs of carving and the kids helped carrying them outside. We went home so they could take a nap, only to receive a call saying the temp was now 101 and they needed to go to the hosp.

Jaden's heart was broken, he wanted to go trick or treating. So they dressed him up in his cute little spider outfit. He couldn't wait to scare everyone! After making the rounds to a couple of houses, they headed down to the "hotel" (the new Children's hospital where you almost feel like you are in a hotel with a magnificent view of Pittsburgh.) Joey was Spiderman and was shooting his webs everywhere. He was in high gear for a grand night of make believe. He was able to finish trick or treating with the girls next door, Riley and Katie Rose.
He had a "great" night and was please with all his candy!

Jaden had been doing amazingly well this week. Pappy took them to South Park for a field trip. They fed the ducks, went exploring and best of all the went climbing "like real men". Jaden's was "sorry" that he got a little muddy. A very small price to pay for the enjoyment that was had! His blood counts on Thursday were fantastic. His body was doing a great job!

Yesterday he was moving a little slower and looked a little bit down and out. We were all expecting that a fever would win out. And so it did. At the hospital the blood work came back -- his white blood count was "zero", and had to be admitted. Poor baby. The chemo is doing it's job extremely well, knocking this baby to his knees. He is just not feeling very well and has developed sores in his mouth. We all know that yucky feeling.

Again, we ask to step up the prayers to give him strength to fight this.

Love, Grammie
