Charleston WV? ANyone been there done that?

We are currently researching Charleston WV. Don't ask just yet.

Anyone have any insight into the area?
Families, schools, housing, surrounding cities/ suburbs.

Thanks!

By the way: I caught site of myself in a 56 X 78 FOOT B. Moss display front mirror.

I stopped dead in my tracks. I am REALLY that huge. I looked like I ate a massive beach ball and was about to topple over due to the laws of gravity.

I am defying gravity : by still standing.

Ok. Charleston? Anyone?

HI! This is Emily's mom from Martinsburg. I have a few friends, an aunt, and a cousin that live in the Charleston area. They all seem to really like it there. Some have kids in the school system and I haven't heard any complaints. There are good teachers and bad teachers anywhere. There are alot of nice, smaller communities down there with a small commute to Charleston. It does have a nice big mall - the Town Center. There is also the Civic Center where sporting event, music, entertainment stuff is held. The area isn't that hard to navigate either, I used to go when I was in high school and not get lost. My sense of direction really sucks! Hope this helps. If you want more specifics about good and bad areas, I can talk to my aunt or cousin (she has the family with a ton of kids).

Debby,

My one girlfriend was born and raised there and loved it. I have been there with Cary on his business trips a couple of times and we stayed at the Embassy suites. Right across the street was this huge three level mall that was really nice. The people were very friendly too. I don't know much more about the specifics of schools and what not but like Jamie said, there are good and bad everywhere. Good luck with any decisions you need to make. (=

I live 20 minutes west of Charleston. We love it here in Kanawha County. Do you want to live in Charleston proper or one of the surrounding (less crowded) towns? Email me at eviltwinswife@gmail.com for more info.

I am from there and lived there for a large part of my life. Some of my family also lives there. I had a small business there as well.

It's not my favorite place in the world. It's called "chemical valley" due to the chemical plants in the area. It is an old town and looks like such.

I owned a condo in the South Hills area which is one of the nicer places and it was just *okay*.

Evil Twin's Wife loves it, so ask her for the positive spin on it. I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. How's that for honesty?

We have some friends there too. They live in Hurricane (pronounced Her-i-cun) Schools are good there. Their kids are grown and they may be ready to sell their house, with a pool and a sauna, and a home theater. We have a friend in Winfield (another suburb) that is trying to sell his condo if you want a condo??? When I was a kid we went there for 'state" events at the capitol. (or is it capital?) The air quality was really bad then, but much better now. The cost of living is much less than Northern Virginia/Eastern Panhandle!
Let us in on your reasons for the inquiry
